Thunder Take Season Opener 11-0

The M&M Thunder High School team defeated Green Bay United 11-0 to open its season on Sunday.

MARINETTE - The M&M Thunder 18U High School team opened its season with a resounding win at Green Bay United on Sunday. The Thunder blanked the United by a final score of 11-0.

The Thunder blitzed Green Bay with seven goals from five different players in the first period. Jordan Carvenough started the onslaught less than two minutes into the contest. Joesph Danielak followed with his first of two goals in the period before Adam Lemery netted two in a row. Kennison Boivin and Jason Bowers also scored in the opening period.

Lemery scored three more goals in the third period, giving him five in the contest. Chad Kenney scored in the final period as well to account for the 11-0 final score.

Niya Patneaude pitched the shutout with 22 saves for the Thunder.

The Thunder will return to action December 20, when they travel to Kenosha.

Meanwhile the Thunder Bantam and Squirt teams played at Manitowoc this weekend. The Squirts scored four third-period goals including a go-ahead score from Conner Eastmen with 40 seconds to play in a 5-4 win. The Breakers then defeated the Thunder 5-2 in game two.

The Bantams also split a pair on Sunday, winning game one 6-5 and falling 8-6 in game two. Brayden Rounds and Blue Haley each scored a pair in the first game with Haley netting the game-winner with 5:51 to play. Haley also scored four goals in game-two.
