Thunder Drops Home Game with Kenosha, 7-2

MARINETTE – The M&M Thunder High School hockey team hosted Kenosha at the Community REC Center on Sunday. The Komets closed the game with four unanswered goals to win 7-2.

Kenosha got a first-period goal from Benjamin Pelli, but Theron Thayer tied the game with assists from Chad Kenney and Joseph Danielak early in the second.

The Komets pushed ahead 3-1 before Adam Lemery got the Thunder within a goal off an assist from Jordan Carvenough with four minutes to play in the second.

Penalties plagued the Thunder who racked up nine infractions including six in the last 17 minutes of the contest.

Kenosha put a pair of goals on the board in the final minutes of the second-period and then notched a pair of power play goals in the third.

Nya Patneaude made 23 saves against 30 shots, while Kenosha’s Travis Standerski made 27 stops for the Komets.

The Thunder will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Dodgeville for a pair of games.
