PeeWee and Squirt teams play Thanksgiving weekend: Bantams set to host Tourney

MARINETTE – The M&M Thunder celebrated the holiday weekend with a round of PeeWee and Squirt contests. Meanwhile the Thunder High School team is set to travel to Verona on Saturday, while the Bantams will host the Battle at the REC this weekend.

 

MARINETTE – The M&M Thunder celebrated the holiday weekend with a round of PeeWee and Squirt contests. Meanwhile the Thunder High School team is set to travel to Verona on Saturday, while the Bantams will host the Battle at the REC this weekend.

BANTAM

The M&M Thunder Bantams will host the Battle at the REC Friday-Sunday. The Thunder will open the action on Friday when they host Sheboygan at 6 p.m.

The Tournament features teams from Sheboygan, Manitowoc, Manistique, Iron Mountain, Ozaukee, Copper Country and SHAW.

All Thunder games in the tournament will be streamed live on the Thunder YouTube Channel.

PEEWEE

The Thunder PeeWee team (3-4) got back in the win column in convincing fashion with 8-2 and 9-1 victories at Oshkosh on Sunday.

The Thunder offense overwhelmed Oshkosh with 37 shots in game one.

Chuckie Bird netted a pair of goals in the first period, and Conner Radtke made it 3-0 early in the second period.

Oshkosh fought back with a pair of goals in the second period, but Collin Campbell got both of those back, and the Thunder led 5-2 heading into the final stanza.

Bird and Campbell both completed hat tricks in the early stages of the third period to put the game out of reach, and Bryce Vincent capped the scoring at 8-2.

Wes Baty had four assists in the game while Owen Haley and Dixon Polzin also had helpers. Grace Loomis made eight saves to secure the win.

The offensive barrage continued in game two as the Thunder put six goals on the board in the first period.

Connor Eastman started the scoring before Campbell ripped off three in a row. Bird and Jesse McClarren closed out the period with goals to put the Thunder up 6-0.

Bird added a goal in the second period, and Eastman scored one each in the second and third periods to complete a hat trick.

Campbell and McClarren each had two assists while Simon King, Noah Gilbert and Vincent assisted goals as well.

The PeeWees will return to the ice on Saturday when they travel to Marquette.

SQUIRT B

The Squirt B team (5-2-1) swept Green Bay and Oshkosh this weekend, taking four games by a combined score of 44-2.

On Saturday, the Thunder travelled to Green Bay and delivered wins with scores of 9-0 and 10-0. On Sunday they hosted Oshkosh and won with margins of 13-0 and 12-2.

On Saturday, Jaxen Teteak racked up 10 goals on the day including six in game two. Braden Forgette added six assists including four helpers in game one, while Parker Perket netted a hat trick in game one.

Teteak stayed hot with four goals in game one against Oshkosh and another in game two, while Perket and Calvin Schroeder added hat tricks to the effort in game two.

All ten active players on the roster contributed to the success. For the weekend Teteak had 15 goals and four assists. Perket posted nine goals and two assists. Schroeder scored five goals and dished out seven assists. Wyatt Kneath had four goals and seven assists. Forgette notched three goals and six assists. Owen Shaffer had three goals and an assist. Erin Vincent added two goals and four assists. Alex Bird had two goals and three assists. Landon Dura had a goal and two assists, and Chet Lacy recorded two assists.

Defensively, the Thunder recorded a stretch of 122 minutes and 50 seconds without allowing a goal. Dura pitched a pair of shutouts while recording 12 saves, and Shaffer had a shutout against Green Bay and 17 saves on the weekend.

The Thunder will take part in the Eagle River Tournament this weekend.

SQUIRT C

The Squirt C team suffered a pair of narrow losses against Green Bay on Saturday, falling with scores of 4-3 and 3-1. On Saturday, they hosted Oshkosh and were defeated 8-3 and 11-1.

Against Green Bay, the Thunder got goals from Sullivan Reek, Carter Erdmand and Kelvin Winterbottom in a 4-3 loss.

In game two, a goal from Reek staked the Thunder to a 1-0 lead that held until the Bobcats broke through with three goals in the third period. Robby Chalrtry notched six assists against nine shots in game two.

Against Oshkosh, Chaltry and Sullivan each recorded a pair of goals while Lincon Bjorkman, Holden Ruiz and Cael Schmidt each had an assist.

Madison Salewski recorded 23 saves while tending the net against Oshkosh.

The Squirt C team will return to action on Saturday, December 11, when they travel to Shawano for a doubleheader at 10:30 a.m.
