Friday's Pink Out game will raise funds for Kelsey and Zack Meyers as well as benefitting Aurora Pediatrics.

MARINETTE – The M&M Thunder high school hockey team is set to host its annual Pink Out game and Teddy Bear Toss on Friday. The night will feature great hockey with the Thunder taking on Manistique as well as a great cause in supporting the Meyers family of Wausaukee and Aurora Pediatrics.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a scheduled puck-drop of 7 p.m. Admission is free to all fans at the Community REC Center.

There will be numerous raffles including a free dress or tuxedo rental from I Do Bridal, a pair of guns, a 65” television, a smoker, gift certificates for two half pigs and many other fantastic bucket raffles. In addition, the team will have a bake sale and a fully stocked concession stand.

All funds raised will be donated to Zack and Kelsey Meyers to support Zack’s fight against cancer. Kelsey is the cousin of Thunder defenseman Simon Bowers. Just ten days after the birth of their son Rusty in November, Zack was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The game will also feature a Teddy Bear Toss in between the first and second periods. Fans should bring a stuffed animal to toss on the ice, and those donations will be given to Aurora Pediatrics in Marinette.

Last season the same two teams met on the ice for the annual event. The Thunder raised over $2,500 for Peshtigo’s Kody Klimek and donated more than 250 stuffed animals to pediatric patients at Aurora Medical Center.

The Thunder hold a record of 14-7-4 on the season. They will also host Dodgeville on Saturday and Manitowoc on Sunday in their final preparations before hosting the WAHA State Tournament March 17-19.
